Aleksandra Makovskaya is a retired judge. Before 1998, she served at the Institute of Marine Transport of the Maritime Ministry of the USSR, first at the department of international private, Soviet and foreign maritime law, then at the legal department of the Maritime Ministry of the USSR. She had also worked at the legal departments of the Ministry of Transport of RF and of AO Sovfrakht, where she attended to maritime legal matters such as limitation of ship-owner’s liability, maritime lien and mortgage. She chaired the bench at the Supreme Arbitration Court . She currently teaches at the Foreign Trade Academy.
